Breakfast: Eat It
November 6, 2009 · Print This Article
Your mom was right–breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast sets the stage for a life of nutritious eating and helps kids reach their full potential throughout the day.
However, not all breakfast foods are the same. Obviously a bowl of chocolate sugary cereal is not as great for you as a bowl of prepared oatmeal.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when preparing breakfast:
Create a balanced breakfast of complex carbohydrates and protein in somewhat equal amounts. Too many crabs with no enough protein can sedate children and make them sluggish.
Focus on whole grains, fruits and something hearty and wholesome (like dairy or eggs). Whole wheat French toast topped with fruit and a glass of cow’s milk is a good choice. Or make a nutritious smoothie for a breakfast on the run.
You get the idea: Eat breakfast, by all means! Make it wholesome.
