Fruity Desserts: Banana

There are more than 100 countries that grow the banana, which has blossomed into a popular cultural and commercial asset across the world. While bananas are most certainly a delicious treat eaten raw, a wealth of tasty recipes showcasing the flavor and versatility of this fruit can become a dazzling dessert in a matter of moments. On top of all this – bananas deliver an impressive source of vitamin C, potassium, and vitamin B6. To get an idea on just how to spice up this sweet treat – check out the following suggestions:

Chocolate Bananas

Ingredients:

4 bananas
7/8 ounces of cornstarch
1 3/4 ounces of sugar
1 tablespoon of milk
1 3/4 ounces of baking chocolate

Instructions:

1) Peel the bananas and cut in half lengthwise. 
2) Melt the chocolate.
3) Stir in milk and cornstarch.
4) Bring to boil.
5) Put the bananas in a dessert dish. Pour sauce on top.
6) Garnish with whipped cream or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Peanut Butter Banana Balls

Ingredients:

2 ripe bananas
5 tablespoons of peanut butter
2 tablespoons of honey

Instructions:

1) Mash the bananas.
2) Mix with peanut butter and honey.
3) Roll the mixture into balls.
4) Freeze mixture in a covered container.

Chocolate Banana Chimichangas

Ingredients:

Bananas (cut into 1 1/2 -inch pieces)
Flour tortillas
Chocolate chips
Cinnamon and sugar mix (1 cup of sugar mixed with three tablespoons of cinnamon)
Vegetable oil

Instructions:

1) Place banana pieces in the center of the tortilla.
2) Place chocolate chips around the banana.
3) Fold the tortilla and roll it up.
4) Seal the edges with water.
5) Fry the tortilla in oil until they turn brown, crispy, and blistered.
6) Drain the dessert on paper towels and then roll into a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
